Jan Snel, based in Montfort (NL) and one of the largest semi-permanent accommodation specialists in the Netherlands, has further strengthened its position with the takeover of competitor Fort Unitbouw. The construction company, based in Raamsdonksveer (NL), was formerly owned by the Royal BAM Group.
Fort Unitbouw employs a hundred members of staff building semi-permanent units for customers across the healthcare, education and construction sectors turning over €25 million p.a. The acquisition price is still under negotiation.
'The acquisition was our idea', says Jan Snel's General Director, Harry van Zandwijk. 'We wanted to expand further in modular construction and Fort Unitbouw is a company that fits perfectly within our operations.'
Jan Snel's director believes that it is possible to increase Fort Unitbouw's turnover by 20% by transferring construction orders. This can be achieved making use of existing resources. The takeover will have no direct consequences for the company's hundred employees. The company name will be maintained for the time being, but will be changed to Jan Snel at some point in the future.
This is the second takeover for Jan Snel within a relatively short space of time. The Utrecht-based company recently took over a majority shareholding in Holland Composite Industrials. This composite materials manufacturer is specialized in products targeting the construction, marine and transportation sectors. The Lelystad-based company estimates that it will achieve a turnover of €15 million this year.
The two acquisitions mean that the number of employees working at Jan Snel has risen from 300 to 450. It is estimated that turnover will break the €100 million barrier this year.
'There are no plans in the pipeline for any more takeovers', says Van Zandwijk. 'We're going to consolidate first. But then that's what we said after we acquired Holland Composites.' |
